German Dry Docks GmbH & Co. KG represents the merger of two good, old familiar corporate entities:
Rickmers Lloyd Dockbetrieb GmbH & Co. KG and the Ship Division of the company MWB AG.
Effective on 1 January 2013, we merged these two entities to form the company German Dry Docks GmbH & Co. KG. This reorientation of ship-repair business has been made possible by a new shipyards alliance in the north
of Bremerhaven.
Until now, our two companies went our own separate ways. In the future, however, we will exploit all networks and synergism possibilities to provide you as customer with the best and most cost-effective service. The core activities
of our new company – as the name expresses – centre around our altogether 6 floating and dry docks. They are from 147 meters until 335 meters length in size, and are located in the direct vicinity of two large-scale locks as gateway
to the North Sea. Fundamentally, however, nothing has changed in our basic approach to performance, expertise,
and customer orientation. We have merely taken effective action and have merged our strengths, to enable us to
be even more extensively represented on the market. This will most of all benefit you as our customer.
The corporate headquarters of German Dry Docks will in future be at the address Barkhausenstrasse 60, 27568 Bremerhaven, Germany. We will, however, continue production at our plant locations at Bückingstrasse, next to Lloyd Shipyard, as well as on the plant site of the former MWB Ship Division at Barkhausenstrasse.
Around 100 employees are at work for German Dry Docks. These are our experienced and proven staff from Rickmers Lloyd und MWB Ship Division. In addition, nothing has changed in our management as well. Our Managing Director is still Mr. Uwe Beck, who achieved great success in his leadership of Rickmers Lloyd. His close colleague in management of German Dry Docks will be Mr. Detlef Nünke, who until now was head of MWB Ship Division.
